History of the Cornelius Police Communications Division
The Cornelius Police Department Communications Division has been proudly serving the citizens of Cornelius, North Carolina, since 1993 and the students of Davidson College, Davidson, since March 1999. We are a primary public safety answering point (PSAP) whose highly trained telecommunicators handle routine and emergency calls for police, fire and medic and local government agencies.

When the Communications Division receives your call, it is processed using NextGen technology via ESINET by AT&T. The system is equipped with 3 administrative lines and 6 emergency 9-1-1 lines. This system automatically identifies and displays the telephone number and location of Land Line of emergency callers. It also recognizes TTY/TDD calls from non-voice communications devices. Calls are dispatched on Motorola MCC 7500 Elite consoles.
