Learn stand up paddleboarding (SUP) in a safe and controlled environment with experienced and certified paddle instructors. Participants will use top quality, new equipment and will start gliding across the water in no time! Participants will need to wear a bathing suit and bring a towel. Lessons are instructed by Lake Norman Community Sailing.

Lessons include:

  • Introduction to your board and paddle
  • Features of your board and paddle
  • Technique for proper paddling and turning
  • Water safety instruction
  • On-land instruction
  • Water instruction

Saturdays, 9:30-11 a.m. (Please arrive no later than 9:15 a.m. so that class can start on time)

Saturdays, 9:30-11 a.m. (Please arrive no later than 9:15 a.m. so that class can start on time)

Cost per person, per class:
$30 for residents, $36 for non-residents

LOCATION
Lake Norman Community Sailing Center, 15901 NC-73, located within Blythe Landing Park. The park is on the right if heading west on Hwy 73 (Sam Furr Rd). Follow signs to Lake Norman Community Sailing.

Important Class Information
Who can participate?
  • Ages 12 and up. Participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by parent/guardian.
  • Participants must be able to swim.
  • Participants must sign a liability waiver before or when they arrive at the Lake Norman Community Sailing Center.  Download the LNCS Waiver & Release
What do I need to bring to class?
Lake Norman Community Sailing will provide all necessary paddleboarding equipment, including life vest. You will need to bring:
  • Swimsuit or comfortable workout clothes that dry quickly (cropped tights, shorts, etc.). Dress for the weather (synthetic instead of cotton). Keep in mind to wear something that dries quickly in case you get wet.
  • Water shoes (shoes that strap on your feet and can get wet). Participants can also go barefoot on the board but will need shoes to walk out to the dock.
  • Towel
Also Recommended:
  •  Water bottle
  • Sunscreen
  • Hat/sunglasses with a strap to secure hat/glasses
  • Change of clothes
