The Cornelius Police Department invites the community to show support in memory of Warrior Jace Thompson, son of Police Captain Jennifer Thompson and NC Highway Patrol Sergeant Eric Thompson. On October 25, 2017, 4-year-old Jace was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive brain tumor known as Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma or DIPG. On October 5, 2018, Jace passed away after almost year of battling this rare tumor. The Cornelius Police Department is assisting with fundraising efforts to support the research of DIPG at Children's National Health System in Washington, DC in Warrior Jace's name.
Beginning November 1st, Cornelius Officers are voluntarily participating in No Shave November by growing facial hair to raise money. Officers are donating to the foundation and the department is waiving their grooming policy.
