Cornelius residents are invited to help the Cornelius Police Department Pack the Patrol Car with school supplies for the upcoming 2015 - 2016 school year.
From now till August 14, donations of school supplies can be dropped off Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm in the lobby of the Cornelius Police Department, 21440 Catawba Avenue. Cornelius Police will also be collecting items at National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Gazebo in Jetton Village.
On Friday, August 21, officers will deliver all the donated items among the four Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in Cornelius; Cornelius Elementary, J.V. Washam Elementary, Bailey Middle School, and W.A. Hough High School.
Recommended supplies include paper, pencils, pens, crayons, markers, highlighters, erasers, glue sticks, scissors, binders, pocket folders, hand sanitizer, tissues, back packs, and lunch bags.
Since 2012, CPD has collected over 2,400 school supplies. These supplies were separated, boxed and distributed to the four schools in the community - Cornelius Elementary, J.V. Washam Elementary, Bailey Middle and W.A. Hough High School.
