[ARCHIVED] Update Cornelius Police Suspect in Stabbing Incident Transported from Hospital to Jail

On Tuesday, April 14, 2015, Joshua Thomas Sloop, suspect in the April 12 Stabbing Incident in Cornelius was released from Carolinas Medical Center and transported to the Mecklenburg County Jail. Sloop is currently being held on a $217,500 bond for the following charges:

(2) Felony Counts of 1st Degree Burglary - $100,000
Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill - $75,000
Felony Violation of a Domestic Violence Protective Order with a Deadly Weapon
Felony Stalking - $10,000
Misdemeanor Assault with a Deadly Weapon - $25,000
Misdemeanor Simple Assault - $5,000
Misdemeanor Communicating Threats - $2,500

On Sunday, April 12 at approximately 0430 hours, the Cornelius Police Department responded to 20620 Willow Pond Lane in Cornelius in reference to a domestic assault. Responding officers arrived and found the suspect, Joshua Thomas Sloop, had forcibly entered the victim's residence. Once inside, the suspect used a knife to assault the victim. The victim fled to a neighbor's residence for help and police were called. During an altercation at the neighbor's residence, the suspect was also injured.
