[ARCHIVED] Cornelius Police Investigate Domestic Incident and Assault with a Deadly Weapon

On Sunday April 12, 2015 at approximately 0430 hours, the Cornelius Police Department responded to 20620 Willow Pond Lane in Cornelius in reference to a domestic assault. Responding officers arrived and found the suspect, Joshua Thomas Sloop, had forcibly entered the victim's residence. Once inside, the suspect used a knife to assault the victim. The victim fled to a neighbor's residence for help and police were called. During an altercation at the neighbor's residence, the suspect was also injured. Both the victim and suspect were transported to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment.

Cornelius Police obtained warrants for the following charges against the suspect, Joshua Thomas Sloop (W/M DOB 02-17-1979):

(2) Counts of 1st Degree Burglary
Violation of a Domestic Violence Protective Order with a Deadly Weapon
Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill
Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Assualt
Stalking
Communicating Threats
