On Monday, March 30, 2015, Cornelius Police responded to Bailey Road Park, 11536 Bailey Road, in reference to fire damage in the women's restroom. Officers observed a broken paper towel dispenser, burnt debris and heavy damage to the bathroom floor from the fire. The Cornelius Fire Department and the Mecklenburg County Assistant Fire Marshal determined the fire was intentionally set with approximately $2,000 in damages.
After reviewing surveillance video, Cornelius Police located two females in the area of the women's restroom around 11:20AM. The two females were seen leaving the restroom with a heavy cloud of smoke coming through the doorway. Cornelius Police were able to identify the suspects as Tyler Beal (DOB 2/10/1999) and T`Elgin Kelly-Eisom (DOB 1/30/1997) of Huntersville.
On Thursday, April 1, Beal and Kelly-Eisom were arrested and charged with One Felony Count of Burning a Public Building.
