With the forecast for wintry weather coming into the area, the Cornelius Police Department and Cornelius-Lemley Fire & Rescue will be very busy and we would like to take a moment to remind our residents about staying off the roads as much as possible.

Unless it is an emergency, we ask that you do not drive unless absolutely necessary. During snow events, we receive calls related to persons riding ATV’s on the streets, which is illegal. We ask that you stay off the roads on recreational vehicles so we do not have to respond to those calls and our efforts can be focused on emergency situations.

Please only call 911 in the event of a true emergency. Dispatchers will be very busy and we ask for your patience while answering calls for service. In the event of a power outage, please DO NOT CALL 911 unless there is an emergency and you are in need of assistance.
