[ARCHIVED] Town of Cornelius recognizes Officer Causey for 18 years of service

Officer Causey and Chief Hoyle

On Tuesday, January 21, 2014, the Town of Cornelius Board of Commissioners recognized Reserve Officer James Causey for his 18 years of service with the Cornelius Police Department.

Mayor Travis presented Officer Causey with a plaque, his weapon, and a retirement badge.

Officer James Causey received his initial law enforcement certification from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Division on June 29, 1973. He worked fourteen years as a Reserve Officer with the City of Greensboro, NC and eight years as a Reserve Officer with the Town of Davidson before coming to work as Reserve Officer for the Cornelius Police Department on April 11, 1995.

Officer Causey has always been a dedicated servant to the residents of Cornelius and could always be counted on to cover any patrol shift that needed him. He attended all the mandatory state training and successfully completed mandated firearms qualification annually during his years of service. Officer Causey especially enjoyed working Halloween to help ensure the safety of children during trick or treat, and also worked the North Mecklenburg Christmas Parade every year. In fact, during his entire 18 years of volunteering for Cornelius, he never missed a Halloween Night and only missed one Christmas parade, and only then to take a long-planned retirement trip.

After a very long stint as a volunteer police officer for the Cornelius Police Department, Officer Causey decided to retire on December 31, 2013. It is with great appreciation that we wish him the best in retirement and remain forever thankful for his years of volunteer service to our community.
