On Thursday, September 12, the Cornelius Police Department participated in a 9/11 Remembrance event hosted by the North Mecklenburg Senior Center.

CPD, along with Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue, Huntersville Police Department, Huntersville Fire Department, Davidson Police Department, and North Mecklenburg Rescue Squad, were presented with certificates that said " In Recognition and Appreciation of The First Responders of North Mecklenburg County, you all are unsung heroes who touch our lives, day by day, moment by moment, Thank you!"

A ceremony was held and members of the North Mecklenburg Senior Center shared their thoughts and prayers about 9/11, then refreshments were served as members mingled with the first responders.
