Architectural Review Board
The Architectural Review Board works with the Cornelius Planning Department and the Board of Commissioners to provide guidance on building design, policies, and standards relating to architecture. Architects, landscape architects, building designers, or other design professionals who live in the Town of Cornelius can serve on the Architectural Review Board.
Transportation Advisory Board
The Transportation Advisory Board works with the Cornelius Planning Department and the Board of Commissioners to provide guidance on transportation, development, and pedestrian/bicycle safety. If you are a Cornelius resident with an interest in transportation, please apply.
Historic Preservation Committee
The Historic Preservation Committee works with the Cornelius Planning Department and the Board of Commissioners to preserve Cornelius's rich and significant historical, cultural, and architectural heritage. Land Development Code Advisory Board
The Land Development Code Advisory Board (LDCAB) reviews, evaluates, and recommends amendments to the Planning Board and Town Board. If you are a resident, business owner, or work in the Town and have an interest in development regulations and processes, please apply.
Planning Board
The Planning Board reviews proposed rezonings and amendments to the Land Development Code and provides formal recommendations to the Town Board regarding their approval. The Planning Board is also instrumental in working with Cornelius Planning staff to help develop and recommend long-range plans for Cornelius. Planning Board members also serve as the Board of Adjustment, which reviews variances to Land Development Code standards, Special Use Permits, and Appeals to administrative decisions. Planning Board members also serve as the Watershed Review Board, which works with the Cornelius Planning staff in the administration of watershed regulations.
