Early Voting Reminders

Election 2020

The next general election will be held Tuesday, November 3. Early voting begins on Thursday, October 15, and continues until Saturday, October 31.

Cornelius Town Hall will be a polling location during early voting and on Election Day. This year, we’re pleased to announce additional voting sites in North Mecklenburg, including:

Hough High School (12420 Bailey Rd, Cornelius, NC 28031)

North Mecklenburg High School (11201 Old Statesville Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078)

North Regional Library (16500 Holly Crest Ln, Huntersville, NC 28078)

Early voting hours are:

Monday-Friday – 8:00 am to 7:30 pm

Saturdays – 8:00 am to 3:00 pm

Sundays – 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm

At all polling sites during early voting, citizens may:

  • Vote inside
  • Vote curbside (if disabled or ill)
  • Drop off a completed absentee/mail-in ballot

For the safety of voters and staff, please wear a mask, maintain at least 6 feet of social distancing and use hand sanitizer, which will be provided before you enter the polling place and as you leave. All poll workers will wear personal protective equipment and voting machines will be wiped down after each voter. In addition, each voter will be given a stylus for hands-free marking of their ballot using the voting machine.

On Election Day, citizens must vote at their assigned polling place (precinct), and curbside voting will be available for the disabled or ill.

You must be already registered to vote on Election Day—no same-day registration will be available, and absentee/mail-in ballots will not be accepted at polling sites.

Voting Hours for Election Day are 6:30 am – 7:30 pm. All safety precautions as outlined for early voting will be observed.

General voter information can be found on Mecklenburg County’s Board of Elections website, including a link to request an absentee ballot
