[ARCHIVED] Cornelius Police Investigate Hough High School Social Media Threat

Smith - Airsoft Gun - Hough

On Friday, April 5, 2019, officers with the Cornelius Police Department, Davidson Police Department and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Police Department investigated an incident involving a student's post on social media. The student was identified as Adam Smith.  While the social media post was not threatening in nature, officers continued to investigate and learned Adam Smith brought an air soft gun to school on Wednesday, April 3rd and showed it to some students in class.   

Adam Smith has been charged with Misdemeanor Possession of a Firearm on School Grounds.  NC General Statute 14-269.2. 

No other information regarding this incident is available for release.  Cornelius Police would like to thank the Davidson Police Department and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Police Department for their outstanding support during this investigation.

Pictured to the right is the air soft gun that Smith had taken to the school.
