[ARCHIVED] Cornelius Police Recognize Officers for Advanced Law Enforcement Certificates & Officer of the Year

Figaro, Black, Sarver, Macon

On Wednesday, February 13, 2019, the Cornelius Police Department held an Awards Ceremony to recognize three officers for their accomplishments and dedication to law enforcement.

Sergeant Matthew Figaro and Officer John Macon received their Advanced Law Enforcement Certificates from the N.C. Department of Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. This recognition is the highest award and officer can receive based on law enforcement training and experience. Sergeant Figaro and Officer Macon both serve on the Lake Patrol Unit.

The 2018 Officer of the Year was awarded to Sergeant Jonathon Sarver. During 2018, Sergeant Sarver oversaw and implemented several programs that not only contribute to the reduction of motor vehicle crashes, but are also instrumental in building and maintaining a strong relationship with the community. Some of these programs include the Child Passenger Safety Program, Watch 4 Me NC, No Second Chances, Home Depot Safety Day, and Click'n for Chicken. He also received a departmental Life Saving Award in March of 2018.

The Cornelius Police Department is proud to recognize these officers for their hard work and dedication to the department and Town of Cornelius.
