Pickleball is a fun and increasingly popular sport that resembles a mix between tennis, badminton and ping-pong. It is played using a perforated plastic ball (similar to a whiffle ball) and wood or composite paddles. This very social sport is easy for beginners to learn and can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.
Join the Cornelius Parks & Recreation Department for free indoor play pickleball for adults ages 50 and up at JV Washam Recreation Center.
We will have courts designated for beginners and for intermediate players.
There will be paddles available for play. For more information, please contact John Anderson or call 704-622-6136.
Indoor pickleball will move to Sundays beginning December 3. *No Pickleball Wednesday, November 22*
1 - 3 p.m.
J.V. Washam Recreation Center, 9611 Westmoreland Rd
This program runs on Wednesday nights, generally March through October/November, and on Sunday afternoons, generally November/December through February.
Outdoor Play There are painted pickleball lines on the tennis courts at Torrence Chapel Park (21309 Torrence Chapel Road) and Robbins Park (17738 West Catawba Avenue). At each of the tennis courts, there are stand-alone pickleball lines to be used with our tennis nets. There are additional lines painted at Torrence Chapel Park (6 courts) and at Robbins Park (4 courts), which require the use of portable pickleball nets.
