Cornelius Youth Orchestras
Overview
CYO is seeking young musicians for its growing programs. Weekly rehearsals include a 30-minute sectional instruction session from qualified music instructors and 30 to 40 minutes of group orchestra rehearsal. Potential new members are invited to try out a few rehearsals for free before making a decision to join.
2022-23 Youth Orchestra
Prelude Strings
CYO’s entry-level string orchestra is the perfect fit for students just beginning their music education journey. Students learning a string instrument are invited to play along with their peers having 1-3 years experience. Rehearsals are from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays.
Brass Ensemble
The CYO Brass Ensemble is our newest ensemble program and is an exclusive opportunity connecting elite instruction with more experienced brass youth musicians in the local area. The ensemble is directed by Andrew Fierova, a member of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and
horn instructor at Davidson College. Placement in the ensemble will be evaluated and determined by an audition. Rehearsals for the CYO Brass Ensemble will be held on Monday nights at Bailey Middle School from 5:30-7 p.m.
Brass Challenge
NEW!
The Brass Challenge provides an incredible and unique opportunity for middle school brass players to receive instruction from some of the area’s finest brass musicians. This beginner-friendly, 8-week series features classes for trumpet, horn, trombone, tuba, and euphonium and boasts a faculty comprised of exclusively Juilliard alumni. Students will be given robust instruction on fundamentals and valuable instrument-specific technical insights. Participants will leave the program more equipped with the knowledge and tools needed for long-term success playing their instrument. Don’t miss out! The program kicks off in August!
Space in each program is on a first come basis and is limited. Tuition scholarships are available, so no youth musician will be turned away because of inability to pay. To register for the program or for more information, visit Cornelius Youth Orchestras, email info@corneliusyouthorchestras.com, or call (704) 710-6498.
