Overview
The Town of Cornelius provides an abundance of parks, trails, recreational areas, open spaces and recreation and arts centers. These public facilities preserve and enhance the quality of life and the environment for the citizens of Cornelius. The Town has 262 acres of developed parks, seven miles of trails and greenways and over 120 acres of undeveloped greenway and park land.

Open Track Nights

During Standard Time, typically early November through early March, we keep the lights on for you three nights per week, 6-8 p.m. James Hoyt Wilhelm Park's 1/4-mi walking track will be lighted on Mondays and Bailey Road Park's regulation track will be lighted on Tuesdays and Thursdays, both open to the public for your enjoyment. Come and enjoy a safe place to walk or run, on your own or with family and friends.

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation maintains several parks on Lake Norman that are located in the Town of Cornelius. The Cornelius Town Board approved the 2015-2025 Parks & Greenways Master Plan on June 15, 2015.
