What's Happening


Basketball Kids The Towns of Cornelius and Davidson are excited to bring back Youth Basketball for our 24th year! The standard registration period is now closed for the 2021-2022 season, though a few spaces remain for some divisions. Our league is for boys and girls, ages 5-14.  
COVID-19 IMPACTS: Due to Mecklenburg County and CMS requirements, all players, coaches, spectators, referees, etc., must wear a mask while indoors unless a medical or behavioral condition or disability exception applies. Children under age 5 are also exempt. 
Flag Football We are excited for the 2nd year of our popular Polar Bear Edition of Flag Football! This league provides a fun, non-contact football program for boys and girls ages 6-15. Registration is open now through December 29. Practices will begin the week of January 10, with game play on Mondays evenings beginning January 17. $85 for residents of Cornelius/$105 for non-residents.
Christmas Tree Throughout this holiday season, we invite you to come out any night of the week to view our  beautiful Town tree, located on the back lawn at Town Hall. Feel free to take your family photos or just relax and enjoy!
Fitness group View our list of Athletics, Fitness Classes & Recreation programs. Register now for the next sessions of our popular fitness classes including Tai Chi, Active Living Fit Club, and Yoga for Youth, or enjoy Cardio Funk!
Track-Lights-500 Open Track Nights are available three nights per week, 6-8 p.m. James Hoyt Wilhelm Park's 1/4-mi walking track will be lighted on Mondays and Bailey Road Park's regulation track will be lighted on Tuesdays and Thursdays, both open to the public for your enjoyment. Come and enjoy a safe place to walk or run!
Gift Certificate Looking for a unique gift for friends or family? A gift certificate from Cornelius Parks & Recreation is always the right size! Gift certificates can be used for full-day and partial-day summer camps, fitness classes & more.

The 5th Annual Beyond Walls Public Art Exhibition is open at Robbins Park. This award-winning exhibit will be on display through January 31, 2020, and features 7 sculptures by 6 artists. Join us on Saturday, June 1, at 3:30 p.m. for and Artist Tour! The public is invited to cast a vote for their favorite sculpture through June 30, 2019 for the "People's Choice Award".  Enjoy!

Registration for the Spring A session of adult art education classes is now open! We are happy to announce the return of watercolor classes at CAC, including the return of both adult beginner and intermediate-to-advanced painting! The 6-week-long sessions will begin the week of February 22.

Register NOW for Earth Jam 2021Saturday, April 24, 5-7 p.m. at Robbins Park. Enjoy a free bluegrass concert by Carolina Divide. Concessions will be available for purchase. Registration is required regardless of age and is now open! Masks are required for this event.
