TOWN OF CORNELIUS AMERICAN LEGION POST 86/NORTH MECKLENBURG
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CORNELIUS TO BUILD VETERANS MONUMENT
The Town of Cornelius Board of Commissioners recently approved the construction of a Veterans Monument. The monument will include the names of all veterans, living or deceased, who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, received an honorable discharge and lived in Cornelius at some point in his/her life.
The purpose of the Veterans Monument is for the Town of Cornelius to show its appreciation, and to pay tribute to those who served, or are presently serving our great nation in the defense of its freedoms.
Cornelius’ American Legion Post has been asked to assist to identify the names of Cornelius veterans whose names qualify to be included on the monument. We are therefore appealing to everyone in Cornelius to spread the word that if they qualify, or know others who qualify, they may complete and mail the following application or contact either Legionnaire Gene McKinney at 704-724-7623, e-mail: gmckinney123@gmail.com or Legionnaire N.J. “Dee” D’Oria 704-502-2202, e-mail: deedoria@mi-connection.com.
