Transportation Advisory Board

The Town of Cornelius Mayor and Board of Commissioners will appoint up to thirteen (13) members to a Transportation Advisory Board.  The Mayor will appoint the Chair, each Commissioner will appoint one member, and the remaining seven members will be collectively appointed by the Board for two year terms.  Meetings will occur on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM.  Anyone who lives, works or owns a business within the Town of Cornelius Corporate Limits or ETJ may apply.

Responsibilities of Transportation Advisory Board Members include but are not limited to the following:

  • Review and evaluate connectivity as it affects neighborhoods. 
  • Review and evaluate interconnectivity between neighborhoods and commercial centers. 
  • Review and evaluate bus routes, pedestrian walkways and bicycle lanes as alternate modes of transportation. 
  • Review and evaluate impact of future transit and transit centers. 
  • Identify alternative routes and recommend priorities for routes. 
  • Suggest adequate and/or acceptable travel times and means for effective traffic movement. 
  • Coordinate with the Town wide traffic study. 
  • Review and evaluate turning lane improvements.
