Over the next few months the Town will be constructing a new indoor Animal Shelter. This new shelter will provide ample indoor space for dogs and cats, as well as large outdoor play areas. This shelter will also have spaces for exams, animal control offices, and adoptions. Over the past few years with the help of many private and public partners the shelter volunteers have raised over $350,000 in contributions and the Town was awarded a grant for $25,000 in order to make this shelter project a reality. J.D. Goodrum Company was the lowest bidder for this project and will be constructing the facility for the Town. It is anticipated that the construction of the facility will be complete by July of 2009.

On the bottom of the page you will find links to the Town's Animal control page as well as to the Animal Shelter Volunteer website. Project Update July 10, 2009:
JD Goodrum is working hard on the shelter, they have primed and paint the inside and most the HVACs and electrical finish work is now completed. They have also installed the stone base for the road extension and parking area. Next week they will begin installing the ceiling tiles and floor coverings as well as the interior glass and doors.
