The Town of Cornelius, NCDOT, and Rhythm Engineering are in the process of installing Adaptive Signal Control Technology on the seven traffic signals from the intersection of Hwy 21 and Catawba Ave to the intersection of Jetton Rd and West Catawba Ave.

The ASCT system uses analytic cameras to automatically adjust traffic signal times based on real-time traffic conditions. The goal of this pilot project is to improve levels of service, reduce queuing at each intersection which will improve travel times along this corridor. The ASCT system should be fully operational by the end of 2018. For more information on the adaptive signal control technology please follow the link.
